The European Safety Footwear Standard EN345 has been superseded by EN ISO 20345 so any footwear that has been tested to EN345 can continue to be sold, however, any new designs or moulds will have to be tested and conform to the new standard. Coding Classifications include SB is the Safety Basic with 200 joule impact toe protection, S1or SB+ with a closed heel area and anti-static energy absorbing heel area, S2 or S1+ water resistant upper, and S3 which has S2+ penetration safety and cleated-out sole (tread). Additional Safety Features: P = Penetration safety, C = Conductive footwear, A = Anti-static, HI = Heat insulation, CI = Cold insulation, E = Energy absorbing heel, WRU = Water resistant upper, HRO = Heat resistant out sole to 300°C, WR = Waterproof footwear, PU = Polyurethane, and TPU = Thermal polyurethane. Foot size conversions from UK to (European) is dependent on manufacturers but as a rule of thumb = 3(36), 4(37), 5(38), 6(39), 7(40/41), 8(42), 9(43) 10(44) 11(45/46) 12(47).
